Arkansas Takes Down Cardinals

| By:
Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lamar University posted a winning record on its recent two-day, three-match road swing through the state of Arkansas but unfortunately the trip ended with a loss on the final day. Arkansas defeated Lamar, 4-0, Sunday evening at the Billingsley Tennis Center.

The two teams agreed to play a clinch-clinch format which would halt the match as soon as either team scored the fourth point no matter the results of the other courts.

The Razorbacks took the early lead after winning matches on courts 3 and 1 doubles, respectively. The duo of Fabian Anthin and Leon Nickel were locked in a tough battle on court 1 but the Hogs held on for a 6-4 decision. The match on court 2 was also close but it was halted when the doubles point was awarded.

Arkansas' Benni Emesz made it a 2-0 lead, but LU's Louis Drapeau was trying to fight the Cardinals back into the match. Drapeau took Arkansas' Jean-Baptiste Badon right down to the wire in the first set but fell in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5).

Unfortunately, Arkansas put up wins on courts 5 and 3 to close out the victory before Lamar could get on the scoreboard.

The Cardinals will look to get back in the win column Friday when they return home to host Southern. The match will take place the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
