BEAUMONT, Texas – Despite the fact the 2025-26 season is just under way, the Lamar University Cardinals are already strengthening the roster for the future. Brayden Jones became the newest addition to the roster announced LU head coach
Alvin Brooks Monday afternoon.
"We are really excited to announce Brayden's signing. He gives us what we needed at the guard position," said head coach
Alvin Brooks. "He can play either the one or the two, brings good size to the roster for a guard, has a high basketball IQ, is an exceptional three-point shooter, doesn't turn the ball over and he can defend.
"I also really like that he is from the Dallas Metroplex area. That has been a fertile recruiting ground in recent years with a lot of guys coming from the area to play high-major basketball. A lot of our fans will remember
Chris Pryor who was from the area and how good he was for us," added Brooks.
A 6-1, 170, combo guard from Dallas, Jones currently plays for the Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes. A three-star athlete, Jones is considered one of the GASO Fall Tour Prep School Early Impressers. Known for his ability to score, he enters his senior season with more than 2,000 career points.
He was named the 6A District Newcomer of the Year following a season where he led his prep squad to a national title, and his club team to a UAA title.
