Cardinals Host Annual Fall Tournament

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's tennis team kicks off the home portion of its fall schedule Friday when they open play in the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational. Named for a former head coach now in the Cardinal Hall of Honor, the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational has become an annual tradition on the LU campus.

The 2025 tournament will consist of four teams – LU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Abilene Christian and UT Arlington – all teams either current or former Southland Conference opponents. The tournament will take place at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Courts due to the lighting renovation project on the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The individual format tournament will begin at Friday at 10 a.m. with doubles followed by singles approximately an hour later. Doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday with singles set to start at 10 a.m.

The start of the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational will be the second fall tournament for the Red and White who opened the season two weeks ago in Corpus Christi, Texas at the Islander Open. It was a strong start to singles play for LU as newcomer Maxwell Lindstedt brought home an individual title.

Updated results for the tournament can be found on LamarCardinals.com at the end of each day.
