Cardinals Prep for Key Stretch

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University will close the regular season with a crucial four-day stretch that will see the Cardinals play three matches with two at home. The Cardinals (7-11/0-2 SLC) travel to Corpus Christi, Texas Thursday for a contest against the league-leading Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. LU will then make the quick turnaround to host Creighton Friday in Beaumont. The Cardinals will close the season Sunday with a Senior Day match against New Orleans.
 
The Islanders are 15-6 on the season and currently sit in second place in the conference standings with a 2-1 league mark. A&M-Corpus Christi has won six of its last seven matches but is coming off a five-point loss at UIW. Thursday's match will begin at 11 a.m.
 
The Creighton Bluejays have put together a very strong season posting a 13-6 (.684) overall record. Creighton heads to the Golden Triangle having won six straight. Following the match at LU they will close the season at Rice. The match against the Bluejays will begin at 2 p.m.
 
The Privateers are 5-8 (.385) on the year and currently third in the league standings with a 1-2 (.333) conference record. UNO has dropped three of their last four matches with the lone victory coming against Southern. The contest against LU will be the Privateers first league contest in the last three outings. The match against New Orleans is set for 11 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
