BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's tennis team returns to action Thursday when they host Southern in a 1 p.m. match from the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The Cardinals (2-6) will look to get back in the win column after dropping consecutive matches.
 
Southern enters the week with a 0-1 overall record in a schedule that has been impacted by the weather. The Jaguars had scheduled matches against both New Orleans and Tulane which were both canceled due to the weather. Thursday's match against Lamar will be Southern's first competition since Jan. 21.
 
The match will mark the eighth time in series history that the two schools have met, with the first meeting coming back during the 1994 season. The Cardinals have won all seven previous meetings with four of those being in Beaumont. Thursday will mark the first meeting between the two schools since the 2009 season when LU recorded a 7-0 decision.
