Box Score ABILENE, Texas – It was a tough afternoon for the Lamar University men's tennis team as they dropped a 4-0 decision at Abilene Christian Sunday afternoon. Both teams agreed ahead of time that the match end as soon as the fourth and deciding point was scored.
The Wildcats took victories at courts 1 and 3 to win the doubles point, which was unfortunate for Big Red. The Cardinals were locked in a battle, 5-5, at No. 2 doubles when the match was halted.
Things became even tougher to take as the teams transitioned to singles. Junior
Max Amling played in a tiebreak in both the first and second set against ACU's Daniel Morozov. Unfortunately for Lamar, Morozov escaped with victories in both sets.
The rest of the match finished in similar fashion as the Wildcats took the matches on courts 2 and 3 singles for the final score halting the competition on the final three courts.
The Cardinals will now turnaround and head home to host Southern. The match against the Jaguars will begin at Friday at 11 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
