BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University is back in action Sunday when they travel to Abilene, Texas to face former conference opponent Abilene Christian. The trip to Abilene will be the Cardinals lone away match in a stretch that has the Cardinals home for four of five.

The Cardinals enter the weekend showdown with a 2-5 (.286) overall record. Abilene Christian is 1-3 (.250) on the season with the lone victory being a one-point decision at Texas Tech.

The Wildcats have opened the year with four matches on the road (at Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech and TCU). The match against the Cardinals will be the third of five straight at home as ACU will play host to Texas-Permian Basin and Hardin-Simmons before the Cardinals come to town.

Sunday's contest is a matchup of former conference foes. A series that dates back to the 1968 season, Sunday's match will be the 26th all-time meeting between the two on the tennis court. Lamar holds a 14-11 (.560) advantage in the series which includes a 4-4 (.500) mark in Abilene. The two schools have split the last 10 meetings and have rotated wins and losses in the previous four contests.
