BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will hosts its annual fall tournament which begins Friday and runs through Sunday with all matches taking place at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The Ron Wesbrooks Invitational is a traditional fall tournament being played on an individual basis.
Three-day tournament will consist of five teams including tournament-host Lamar. The rest of the field will include Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Rice, Abilene Christian and UT Arlington. Tournament play is set to begin at 2 p.m. Friday with the opening round of doubles matches (with singles following approximately an hour later). Play will resume Saturday at 9 a.m. with the second round of doubles followed by singles competition (10 a.m.). Sunday is also set for a 9 a.m. start.
Named for legendary LU tennis coach Ron Wesbrooks, the three-day tournament will serve as Big Red's third fall competition of the season and its lone home tournament (having already played in the Islander Open and the Battle on the Bayou). It will also serve as the midway point of the fall season with two more tournaments following before the Cardinals shut things down to prepare for the spring season.
Updated brackets and tournament results can be found on LamarCardinals.com at the conclusion of each round of competition.
