BEAUMONT, Texas – Fresh off a home opening sweep, the Lamar University men's tennis team (2-4) returns to action Wednesday to close out their current three-match homestand against UT Tyler.
After opening the season on the road with four straight, including season-opening matches at No. 3 Texas and No. 25 Baylor, Lamar battled back with consecutive wins in impressive fashion Saturday. The Cardinals didn't allow a point to Alcorn State defeating the Braves by a combined 14-0 score in the two matches. The Cardinals surrendered a total of just two sets in the two team matches.
The Cardinals will look to make it three in a row when the Patriots come to town. A preseason NCAA Division II top 10 program, UT Tyler comes to town for what will be their 2024 spring season opener. The Patriots are looking to build upon a 2023 campaign that saw them go 20-3 and advance to the Sweet 16.
Monday's match is slated for a 1 p.m. start from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
