BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will look to get back above .500 in Southland Conference play when they step on the court Tuesday at New Orleans. That match against the Privateers will be the first of a two-match road swing that also has Big Red traveling to San Antonio to face UIW.
The Cardinals are 9-9 (.500) on the season and 1-1 in Southland Conference play after splitting their last four matches. New Orleans currently sits atop the conference standings with a perfect 4-0 record and has won four straight since a shutout loss at Rice.
The Cardinals hold a slight advantage in the series, 15-14, and have won eight of the previous 10 contests. UNO has had the upper hand in matches played in New Orleans posting a 6-3 (.667) overall record. Tuesday's match is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
Big Red will be in San Antonio Friday to take on UIW. The league's other Cardinals are 12-5 (.706) on the season but sit a loss back of the LU in the conference standings. After jumping out to a strong start on the year, UIW has fallen on hard times lately dropping consecutive matches and splitting its last six. Friday's meeting will mark the ninth meeting between the two schools with Lamar holding a 5-3 overall record. The contest is set for an 11 a.m. start.
