BEAUMONT, Texas – After winning their conference opener, the Lamar University men's tennis team will look to make it 2-0 in Southland play Saturday when they take on affiliate member Illinois-Chicago (UIC). Saturday's match is slated to begin at 10 a.m. from the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center.
The Cardinals are 9-8 (.529) on the season currently in a three-way tie for first with a 1-0 league record. Lamar has currently won two of its last three matches.
The Flames just happen to be one of the other three teams tied for first in the Southland rankings. UIC is 7-10 (.412) on the year. The Flames have also won two of their last three matches with their two wins being one-point victories.
Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between the two schools on the tennis court.
After the contest with UIC, the Cardinals hit the road for consecutive conference matches.
