Cardinals Continue Tough Four-Match Road Swing

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After kicking off the first part of a four-match road trip with a setback at Texas A&M, Lamar University (7-7) will look to get back in the win column Saturday when they travel to Abilene Christian. The match against the former conference foe will get under way at 3 p.m.

The Cardinals have dropped three of their last four matches to fall to 7-7 on the year but that portion of the schedule has included LSU, Southern Mississippi, Rice and Texas A&M.

Abilene Christian is off to an equally strong start posting an 8-6 (.571) overall record, but the Wildcats have also hit a rough patch dropping four of their last six matches – a stretch that includes contests against Texas Tech, Radford, Brown and Baylor.

When the two teams meet Friday, the Cardinals will look to extend a series advantage over ACU, although the Wildcats have had the upper hand lately. The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 13-11 (.542), but ACU has won four of the previous five meetings and holds a 4-3 advantage over Big Red in Abilene.

After the match with ACU, the Cardinals will then travel to Arlington, Texas to take on UTA. The match against the Mavericks is slated to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday in Arlington.

The Mavericks are 6-3 (.667) on the season and have won four straight entering the week and are coming off a 4-1 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. UTA will face No. 1 TCU Friday before returning home to host the Cardinals.

Historically, the series against UTA has been a tough one for the Red and White. The Cardinals are just 9-26 (.257) all-time against UTA, a mark that includes a 3-14 (.176) record from when the two schools were Southland Conference opponents.
