Big Red Hosts Fall Tournament

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – After opening the 2022 fall schedule two weeks ago at A&M-Corpus Christi, the Lamar University men's tennis team returns to the courts Friday to host its annual fall tournament – the Ron Wesbrooks Invitational. Named for Cardinal Hall of Honor head coach, Ron Wesbrooks, the three-day tournament will be an individual format that will run through Sunday and will consist of host LU, Nicholls, Prairie View A&M and Tyler Junior College.

After a two-year hiatus the annual fall tournament finally returns to the Golden Triangle with all matches being played at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The tournament was forced to Dallas last season due to inclement weather in Beaumont, and the 2020 version was canceled due to COVID.

The tournament will consist of four flights of singles and two doubles flights. Big Red will send nine players to the courts across the different flights.

Tournament play is set to begin Friday at 2 p.m. with the opening doubles matches, followed by singles competition at 3 p.m. Saturday's second round will get under way at 9 a.m.
