Two Victors for LU at Louisiana Classics

| By:
LAFAYETTE, La. - While the Louisiana Classics was in its second and final day, it was the first and only day in which the Cardinals would display their talent in their first outdoor meet of the season. LU would secure two first place finishes for the day - with one coming in the field events and the other on the track.

Kenson Tate took home first place in long jump where he leaped 7.26 meters, which was .5 meters more than the second-place finisher. On the women's side, Faith Outing claimed the women's 400m dash title clocking in at 56.15 seconds. Jaylon Roberts was a top three finisher in the men's 400m dash by setting a new personal record with 47.73 seconds that placed him timing third. Roberts was also the top NCAA athlete to finish in the event.

Parl Eelma opened up LU's day with a sixth place finish in the long jump going 5.66m. Chloe Rodriguez wound up with a sixth place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.02. Arajanee Jackson was third in the triple jump setting a new personal record of 12.04m.

All of the distance relay teams would finish in the top 10 in their respected races. While the men's 4x1 team clocked in at 41.62 for fourth place, the women's 4x1 team was sixth with a 47.26 seconds. Extending to the 4x4's, the women were fifth with 3:59.71 as they crossed the wire with Outing recording a personal best 55.7 seconds on her leg. The men had two teams compete in the event as the 'A' team of Brooks, Roberts (46.9 seconds), Cameron Chretien, and Brian Raven took fourth place at 3:16.88 while the 'B' team of Antonio Munoz, R'Kel Collins, Cole Brogger, and Robine Lane were four spots behind at 3:23.45.

The Cardinals will compete in two events next week as they will travel to Austin for the Texas Relays beginning Wednesday while making a return to Houston next weekend for the Victor Lopez Classic.
