| By:
HOUSTON, Texas - After a stellar day one, the Cardinals resumed their time at the Houston G5 and Super 22 Invitational on Saturday. The second day would see LU record a pair of first place finishes.

For the third meet in a row, George Wheeler was the victor in the 3000m. His time of 8:05.84 was not only a new personal best. But it was also seven seconds faster than the second place finisher. More importantly, Wheeler set the meet record for the fastest time in the event, which had been previously held by Eliud Njubi of TCU in 2001 with a time of 8:10.17.

The other first place finisher came from the men's high jump. Elijah Jackson would be the only jumper to leap two meters to claim first for the Cardinals.

LU had some other top 10 finishes as Kenson Tate would finish the men's 200m dash in sixth with a time of 21.82 while Arajanee Jackson placed in seventh in the women's triple jump event. Meanwhile, the women's DMR team took fourth crossing the line at 12:26.48 while the women's 4x400 relay team finished second at 3:51.76 seconds. The men's 4x400m relay team would earn fourth place by clocking in at 3:20.63 seconds.

Overall, the men's team finished fifth place with 51 points while the women's team took sixth with 45.5 points. The indoor season will continue in two weeks when LU will make their third trip to the University of Houston on Feb. 11th.
