Cardinals Fall to Pioneers

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Lamar University men's tennis team wrapped up a tough trip to the Mile High City dropping a 4-0 decision to Denver Sunday afternoon. The loss drops LU to 6-12 (.333) on the season as Big Red went 0-2 on its trip to Denver.
 
The Cardinals never managed to dig themselves out of an early hole. After dropping the doubles point to Denver, DU took the opening set victories on all six singles courts.
 
After picking up the doubles point, the Pioneers then turned to the upper half of its singles lineup to record the victory. Denver's James Davis pushed the lead to 2-0 with his victory over junior Nicolas Mayr at No. 3 singles. The Pioneers made it 3-0 with their win at the No. 2 position. Denver closed out the day with a 6-2, 6-2, victory at No. 4 from Pedro Fernandez del Valle.
 
The Cardinals will be back in action Wednesday when they return home to host Youngstown State. The match against the Penguins will begin at 11 a.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
