FRISCO, Texas - Carrying over a long-standing tradition of excellence in competition and in the classroom, six members of the Lamar University track & field team were named to the Southland Conference All-Academic teams, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

As members of the 2019 Indoor Track & Field First Team All-SLC with a GPA over 3.00, Matthew Arnold (5,000-meters) and Webster Slaughter (400-meter dash) were automatically selected to the All-Academic team, as was Thai Williams (60-meter dash). Migle Muraskaite, a 2019 Outdoor Track & Field First Team All-SLC member (women's heptathlon), also earned an automatic selection, as was Jamie Crowe (5,000-meters) on the men's side. Katie Buckley was the only non-automatic qualifier but was voted on to the team.

Arnold, Slaughter, and Williams each earned First Team All-SLC slots in the indoor season for winning their respective events at the Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, and Muraskaite and Crowe also made the First Team All-SLC Outdoor teams for the same reason. Buckley was voted on to the team after fourth place finishes in the women's 1,500 and 5K in the outdoor championships and a fifth place finish in the women's distance medley relay (DMR) at the indoor championships.
