AZUSA, Calif. - In the final two Cardinal races of the 2019 Bryan Clay Invitational, Lamar University's
Jordan Rowe and
Katie Buckley each set personal bests on Friday in the men's and women's 1,500-meters races.
Rowe ran a time of 3:46.34, the sixth-best time in his heat and a new personal best. Rowe's previous personal best of 3:49.66 came earlier this year at the 37th Annual Victor Lopez Classic. His new PR is the best race of the 1,500-meters in the Southland Conference so far this year.
Buckley reset her previous personal best in the women's 1,500-meter invitational with a time of 4:35.77, almost two seconds faster than her old personal record of 4:37.53 set at the 2018 Bryan Clay Invite. Today's time of 4:35.77 was the 11th-best pace in her heat and the second-best time in the SLC in 2019, trailing only Stephen F. Austin's Kelsey Ramirez.
The Cardinals return to action on April 26 at the Bobcat Invitational, the final meet before the 2019 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 3-5.
