SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Putting up another strong showing in distance events at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, Lamar University's track & field team had a Top 3 finish in the men's 3,000-meters and a personal-best in the women's 3,000-meters on Saturday.
Sophie Wood raced a personal-best 9:55.57 in the women's 3K to pace LU with a 22nd second place finish, and Julie Emmerson came within a few hundredths of a second of a sub-10 minute 3K with a 10:00.06 in her first collegiate attempt in the event.
Katie Buckley recorded a time of 10:10.25 for 42nd and
Katy Whiteoak rounded out the Cardinal runners with a time of 10:12.91 for 44th.
Jordan Rowe continued to wow on the men's side with a second place finish of 8:10.29, less than a second behind unattached Barry Keane in first.
Liam Burthem had an 8:30.70 race for 19th,
Matthew Arnold came in 21st with a time of 8:31.69, and
Kyle Garcia ran an 8:34.32 for 27th.
Lamar's track & field team returns to action Friday in the Howie Ryan Invitational where Big Red had several strong showings in 2018.
