BEAUMONT, Texas – Winners of four consecutive matches, the Lamar University men's tennis team travels to Baton Rouge, La. Sunday to put its win streak on the line against No. 37 LSU. The Cardinals (5-2) enter the week looking for their best start since the 2014 season when Big Red opened the year with a 6-2 mark.
The Tigers are 3-2 (.600) on the season, and enter the week having won consecutive matches over Drake and Southland Conference member Nicholls. The Bayou Bengals will take on North Florida Friday and Stetson Sunday at noon before hosting LU.
The Cardinals come into their first match in two weeks with a little momentum. The Cards have won four straight, and their last three matches have been blowout victories. Big Red has won its last three outings by a combined score of 20-1 with the last point surrendered coming 19 days ago at UT Rio Grande Valley.
The Cardinals are led by the lower half of their singles lineup. Positions four through six have recorded 14 wins on the young season. Juniors

Jeandre Hoogenboezem lead the team with four victories each.
LSU has had three different players compete at No. 1 singles for at least one match this season, but Jordan Daigle has posted the best mark with a 4-1 (.800) record during the spring season. The Tigers strength comes at both ends of the singles ladder. LSU has dropped only three matches at Nos. 1 and 6 singles this seasons.
Sunday's match at LSU opens a string of six-straight matches away from Texas for the Cardinals. After the LSU match, the Cardinals will travel to Thibodaux, La. for a non-conference match against Presbyterian College, before traveling north to Stillwater, Okla. to take on Oklahoma State and Iowa. The Cards close out the road swing with matches at the University of Omaha and Nebraska.
