McNeese Spring Time Classic Results
LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Lamar track and field teams finished with 18 top five and four first place winners, including Erin Brown's 37' 9.50'' triple jump, at the 3rd-annual McNeese Springtime Classic at the Cameron Communications Track and Field Complex on Saturday.
Brown finished ahead of two Southland Conference foes in Kierranika Duncan and Ashely Wheeler of Nicholls. She marked three inches further than Duncan. Brown also took 10th in the long jump on a mark of 17' 0.0'', and was behind Carissa Hill-second place- at 18' 1.50'' and Briana Foley- 7th- 17' 5.25''. Foley's mark was a personal record.
On the men's side, Brendan Langley was the top collegiate finisher in the 100-meter dash, only behind McNeese Alumni runner Charles Jackson. Jackson timed in at 10.48 and Langley finished in 10.75 seconds. Struble finished seventh in the race with an 11.16 mark, Thomas Lightfoot ninth at 11.28 and Jair Williamson 10th at 11.50.
Langley also took eighth place in the 200-meter, and was LU's top finisher. He marked in at 22 seconds flat, and finished ahead of teammate Trey Davis, who took ninth with a time of 22.22.
TaMar Hicks (1st), Andres Espinosa (2nd) and Tye Norman (3rd) took the 800-meter run times of 1:58.11, 1.58.75 and 1:59.89.
Blake Johnson was third in the 110-meter hurdles on a mark of 15.23. Trey Burton took second and Johnson third in the 400-meter hurdles. Burton timed at 58.64 and Johnson at one minute flat.
Brian O'Bonna had a big day in jumps with second and fourth place finishes. He marked at 23' 5.25'' in the long jump- for 2nd- and 46' 5.50''-for 4th- in the triple jump. Jared Benford set a personal best in the long jump on a fourth place finish of 22' 9.25''.
Three relay teams took top two finishes, including the men's 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter teams first place winners. Lightfoot, Langley, Benford and Davis competed for the 4x1 and Davis, Benford, Hicks and Aaron Bennett ran in the 4x4.
The women's 4x4 team, made of Sarah Shim, Bianca Allen, Olivia Smith and JaLana Owens, claimed second place. Shim set a new personal best in the women's 200m on a 25.15 mark and seventh place finish.
Nia Davis also claimed a personal best in the women's 400m in a fifth place finish of 57.80. Chanissey Fowler finished fifth in the 100m dash on a time of 12.11.
The Cards and Lady Cards will compete in two meets next weekend. The Mt. Sac Relays will start on Thursday and run through Saturday, while the SLU Invitational-hosted by Southeastern Louisiana- is set to go on Friday only.
