MIDLAND, Texas - Lamar sophomores Nikita Lis and Michael Feucht advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles competition at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational over the weekend.
After receiving a bye in the first round, the Lamar duo posted a 6-3 decision over Sean Baklini and Rodolfo Jauregui in the round of 16 before falling to the TCU combo of Trevor Johnson and Blake Wiggins by a 6-1 score in the quarterfinals.
Both Lamar players went 1-2 in singles competition, with Lis defeating Guillermo de Vilchez of Wichita State in the first round of consolation play, while Feucht defeated Texas Tech's Evan Nix in the first round of the consolations.
"This was a good experience for Nikita and Michael," Lamar coach Scott Shankles said. "It gave them the opportunity to play against some quality opponents. Overall, I was happy with their performance."
The Cardinals return to action on Friday for the first of three days of competition at the Rice Fall Invitational in Houston.
