MOBILE, Ala. – The Lamar women’s tennis team suffered its second loss of a four-match road swing this week, falling 4-2 to Troy on Thursday.

Two days after the top two spots provided the highlights for the Lady Cardinal team, the bottom two spots picked up victories as Alicia Porte impressed in a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Rosaura Ramirez-Vega and Natalia Mayagoitia won 6-1, 6-3 against Brooke Durden.

In other singles action, Karoline Grymel warded off a comeback by Carolina Salas to win 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 at No. 1, and Lyubov Dorofeeva won 6-2, 6-4 over Carolina Masó at line two. Dariya Dashutina fell 2-6, 6-0, 4-6 to Anja Cosovic at the third spot, and Alessandra Pennesi’s duel with Candela Munoz Giron was left unfinished.

In doubles, Masó and Porte combined for an 8-6 victory over Hannah Toro and Ramirez-Vega at No. 2, but it wouldn’t be enough as Salas and Hélène Czudek lost 8-6 to Grymel and Dorofeeva at the top spot and the team of Mayagoitia and Dashutina fell 8-1 to Munoz Giron and Cosovic at line three.

The Lady Cards dropped to 4-6 on the season, and they will be looking to get back on track with the start of conference play on Saturday at Nicholls and Sunday at Southeastern Louisiana.
