Lamar falls to UT Arlington

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 Southland Conference decision to visiting UT Arlington on Sunday.

Lamar (2-5 overall, 0-2 Southland) picked up a pair of singles victories on the day. Lamar's Alessandra Pennesi improved to 5-2 in singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Nikola Matovicova at No. 5 singles, while Helene Czudek picked up her second victory of the season with a 5-7, 6-4, 11-4 win over Liucija Smaizyte at No. 6 singles.

UT Arlington improved to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

Lamar returns to action with a Southland Conference match at noon Saturday at Sam Houston State.
