Roberts and Harbuzi Capture Doubles Title at Baylor Invitational

Sept. 18, 2006

WACO, Texas - The Lamar University women's tennis doubles tandem of Tanya Roberts and Kaltrina Harbuzi captured the doubles white draw title at the 11th annual Baylor Fall Invitational, hosted by Baylor University over the weekend.

Roberts and Harbuzi won the championship in dramatic fashion on Sunday, taking the title match 9-7 over Monica Neveklovska and Hillary Collins of SMU. The pair won four matches en route to the tile, knocking off Sara Pesic and Sofia Lifanova of UT-Arlington in the opening round, top seeded Rachel Cox and Brittany Baldy of Oklahoma 8-4 in the quarterfinals and Corina Lazar and Sarah Summerfield of Wyoming in the semifinals.

The duo of Roberts and Harbuzi were the only Lady Cardinals to advance to the finals in the respective draws at the Baylor Invitational.

The Lady Cardinals tennis team will be in action again on October 6, when they participate in the SFA Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas.
