BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University volleyball had their three match winning streak snapped Friday night, falling to the Ladyjacks of Stephen F Austin 3-0 at the Montagne Center.
The Ladyjacks, 26-2, 18-0 in Southland Conference play, jumped on top of the Lady Cards late in game one, and held off Lamar for a 30-22 win. The conference leaders continued their solid play throughout the match, taking 30-20 and 30-19 wins in games two and three.
Lamar was led offensively by Buchi Okoh who knocked down 14 kills with a .565 hitting percentage. Setter Ashley Todd passed out 32 assists for Lamar, and the defense was led by Alyssa Parks and Meagan Adams who had 15 and 10 digs respectively.
The Lady Cardinals will be in action again Saturday night at 7:30 when they take on the Sam Houston State Bearkats. The match will be the final home match of the season for Lamar, and seniors Erica Brown and Nikki Perry will be honored.
