FRISCO, Texas — Maja Malinowska earned her fifth career Southland Conference Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday.

Malinowska was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording 41 kills, 17 digs, two assists and two service aces over two matches last week.

Lamar opened Southland Conference play with a sweep of LSU New Orleans as Malinowska led the Cardinals with 16 kills while she also had seven digs.

The victory over the Privateers marked Lamar's first conference-opening win since 2018.

Malinowska followed with a season-high 25 kills and 10 digs in Saturday's five-set loss to Southeastern Louisiana.

The performance marked her seventh double-double of the season and the 38th of her career.

Malinowska averaged 5.1 kills per set during the week and enters this week 80 kills shy of the 1,000-career-kill milestone.

She surpassed the 1,000-career-point mark earlier this season and currently has 1,049.5 career points.

Malinowska leads the Southland Conference with 3.47 kills per set and ranks sixth in the league with 163 kills and 183 points.
