A right-handed pitcher from Topeka, Kan., Carlgren went 2-1 with a 4.44 ERA in 19 appearances, including four starts, during the 2026 season.

He delivered a season-long 7.2 innings in a 4-2 victory over Stephen F. Austin in Game 7 of the Southland Conference tournament, allowing two runs while striking out four.

He also contributed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in Lamar's 9-3 win over McNeese in Game 1 of the conference championship series.

Carlgren finished third on the team with 53 strikeouts and recorded a season-high eight strikeouts in four innings against Northwestern State on April 19.

Before arriving in Beaumont, Carlgren spent two seasons at Division II Washburn University, where he made 28 starts, recorded one complete game and struck out 134 batters.

He went 5-4 in 2024, logging 72.2 innings and 66 strikeouts, before fanning 68 batters in another 72.2 innings in 2025.

Carlgren earned All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association honorable mention honors in both 2024 and 2025.

He began his collegiate career at Kansas City Kansas Community College, where he struck out 66 batters in 54.1 innings across 12 starts during the 2023 season.

Prior to signing with Washington, Carlgren pitched for the Trenton Thunder of the MLB Draft League.

In his lone start, he threw six innings of two-hit ball with six strikeouts and posted a 1.50 ERA.

Carlgren becomes the third Lamar pitcher since 2022 to sign as an undrafted free agent, joining Jack Dallas and Peyton Havard, both of whom are currently in the Philadelphia Phillies' minor league system.
