BEAUMONT, Texas —
A.J. Taylor was named to the College Station Regional All-Tournament team, which was announced following Monday night's regional final.
Southern California advanced to the super regionals with a 7-1 victory over Texas A&M.
Taylor batted .333 during the regional, collecting three hits in nine at-bats, including a double, while scoring two runs and driving in four.
He recorded the most RBIs of any shortstop in the regional.
For the season, Taylor totaled 72 hits and a .299 batting average across 61 starts, adding 44 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 11 stolen bases, 36 RBIs and a .448 slugging percentage.
He closed the year on a strong note, hitting .387 (12 for 31) over his final seven games with three doubles, one home run and seven RBIs.
During the regional, Taylor's performance was highlighted by a 2 for 4 effort in the opener against Texas A&M, where he recorded a single, double and two RBIs.
In the elimination game against USC, he went 1 for 5 with a single and two RBIs. His key hit came against Big Ten Pitcher of the Year Mason Edwards, who allowed two runs on one play for the first time all season.
Taylor led the team in home runs and ranked second in hits, doubles, stolen bases and RBIs.
He earned first-team All-Southland honors, was named to the conference's All-Tournament team and All-Defensive team.
Defensively, Taylor ranked third nationally among shortstops in defensive runs saved, according to 6-4-3 Charts.
