Wenthe Sets Personal Best at NCAA Regionals

| By:
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lamar University senior Davis Wenthe set a personal best in the quarterfinals of the men's 400-meter hurdles and came away with a top-15 finish Friday at the NCAA West Regionals hosted by Arkansas.

Wenthe recorded a time of 50.05 seconds to place 12th overall but was unable to advance due to not finishing in the top three of his heat. This concludes the season for the senior transfer from Galesville, Wisc. Wenthe earned two all-Southland Conference honors in both the 400-meter hurdles (third) and the 4x400m relay (second) at the SLC Outdoor Championships.

Fellow senior Ethan Ellis also competed in the 400-meter hurdles and finished 22nd at 51.70. The Missouri City native recorded 19 top-10 finishes in both the indoor and outdoor seasons combined. He earned SLC Track Athlete of the Week honors following a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, his fourth career victory, at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational. Like Wenthe, Ellis earned All-SLC second team honors in the 1600m.

The NCAA Regionals will end Saturday as Ke'Asia Hall will take part in the women's triple jump. The event will start at 6 p.m.
