FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lamar University senior
Neelie Schiel took part in the women's javelin throw Thursday on the second day of the NCAA Regionals hosted by Arkansas and ended her season with a top 45 finish.
For this season, Schiel recorded five top-10 finishes in the javelin, which included first at the Prairie View A&M Relays (42.37m/139-0). She set the school's javelin record three times and now holds a mark of 49.71m (163-1), which came following a runner-up finish at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. She would earn second team all-conference honors and was named SLC Field Athlete of the Week.
Returning to run Friday, seniors
Ethan Ellis and
Davis Wenthe will look to continue their season by competing in the quarterfinals of the men's 400-meter hurdles. That event will start at 7:25 p.m.
