BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University learned its postseason fate Monday morning during the NCAA Baseball Championship selection show.
The Cardinals will compete in the College Station Regional alongside No. 12 Texas A&M, Texas State and Southern California from Friday, May 29, through Monday, June 1 at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The appearance marks LU's 14th trip to the NCAA Regionals and its first since 2010.
This marks the 13th time the Cardinals have remained in Texas to compete in an NCAA regional, including their second appearance in the College Station Regional since 1993.
LU has ventured outside the Lone Star State for a regional only once — the 1995 Midwest Regional at Wichita State.
The Cardinals enter the NCAA regionals on a six-game winning streak after sweeping McNeese in the best-of-three championship series to secure their fifth Southland Conference tournament title in program history.
LU has recorded 13 wins in NCAA postseason play since its first appearance at the 1976 Arlington Regional.
The Cardinals last earned a regional victory at the 2003 Austin Regional, defeating Arkansas in the opening game.
