Cardinals Earn 17 Top 10's at Rice's J. Fred Duckett Meet

HOUSTON, Texas - Lamar University sophomore Kyndall Drones and junior Anthony Oliver combined for three of the Cardinals' seven top-five finishes at the J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight Meet at Wendel D. Ley Track. In total, the Cardinals collected 17 top-10 finishes. 

Drones started her day by taking second in the women's shot put when her fifth of six attempts went for 14.72m (48-3.5). She then placed third in the women's hammer throw (49.62m/162-9) and came within two feet of having the furthest mark by a collegiate athlete in the event. 

Oliver took second in the men's hammer throw after coming within 10 inches of reaching 200 feet (60.72m/199-2). 

Freshman Elias Kraut set two personal bests in the 110-meter hurdles (9th; 16.04) and the pole vault (10th; 4.60m/15-1) while Cameron Chin's 200m time of 21.05 missed out on third place by one-hundredth of a second. 

Taking fourth in the discus was Shelby Lewis, who set a personal best mark of 44.30m (145-4). Neelie Schiel (47.25m/155-0) and Sophia Saldutto (42.78m/140-4) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the javelin. 

The Cardinals shift their focus to a return trip to College Station, where it will compete in the Texas A&M Alumni Muster. The meet is scheduled to begin Saturday, May 2nd.
