Chris Olivier named a semifinalist for National Pitcher of the Year

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas — Chris Olivier continues to rack up national recognition.

Olivier was one of 43 pitchers named semifinalists for the 2026 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Award, announced Wednesday.

The field includes last season's National Pitcher of the Year finalist, Dylan Volantis of Texas.

Five semifinalists have earned National Pitcher of the Week honors this season: Olivier, Jackson Flora (UC Santa Barbara), Logan Reddemann (UCLA), Max Vaisvila (Northern Illinois) and Dax Whitney (Oregon State).

First awarded in 2009, the honor has previously been won by standouts such as Stephen Strasburg, Trevor Bauer, Aaron Nola and Paul Skenes.

On Tuesday, Olivier was named Perfect Game College Baseball Pitcher of the Week, 6-4 Analytics D1 Top Pitcher: Week 10 and also earned a spot on Baseball America's Week 10 National Team of the Week.

He also received College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Week honors.

Earlier this season, Olivier was named Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week (Feb. 17), 6‑4 Analytics D1 Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 9-15) and selected to D1Baseball.com's Weekend Top Performers: Top 100 Pitchers list.

On Monday, he earned Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this season, also winning the award on Feb. 16, March 2 and March 16.

The Cardinal righthander recently became the first Lamar pitcher since 2021 to record a complete‑game shutout, firing a two‑hit gem in a 5-0 win over Northwestern State in Game 1 of the series.
Olivier struck out 11 and walked just one, improving to 5-2 on the season.

He retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced and threw to just 28 hitters — one over the minimum.

Trevin Michael last accomplished the feat for Lamar, tossing a four‑hit shutout in a 6-0 home win over New Orleans on May 14, 2021.

Olivier has now posted double‑digit strikeouts in four of his six home starts, compiling 58 strikeouts while allowing only four earned runs at home.

Nationally, he ranks tied for 16th in strikeouts (80) and 14th in ERA (1.76).

He leads the Southland Conference in strikeouts, ERA and innings pitched (61.1).
