COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Lamar University's men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Trenton Brown,
Bryson Champagne,
Tyler Minter and
Ethan Ellis set a season best mark of 3:11.83 to take third overall as the Cardinals concluded the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational Saturday. Throughout the three-day meet, LU totaled 14 top-10 finishes, including two top fives.
After two laps of their event, the Cards' 1,600m relay was sitting in fifth place out of six teams but gained two spots in the second half of the race to finish behind Texas A&M (3:07.05) by four seconds and second-place North Texas (3:09.38) by two. Brown also competed in the men's 400 meters and had a personal best of 46.99, finishing eighth.
Earlier in the day, Champagne and Minter teamed up with
John Sanderson and
Kenson Tate to record a fifth-place time of 40.29 in the 4x100.
Jonathan Rivera took sixth in the men's 1,500m with a new personal best of 3:49.79 while
Tre Richardson rounded out the top 10 in the men's shot put (16.04m/52-7.5).
On the women's circuit,
Kyndall Drones was sixth in the women's shot put (14.71m/48-3.25). Sophia Saldutto placed eighth in the women's javelin (45.24m.148-5) while the women's 4x400 team of
Aryssa Rodriguez,
Chantell Bowman,
Aaliyah Booker and
Erial Fontenot completed their time of 3:54.44 to earn 10
th.
The Cardinals return to action April 16th and 17th when they send a split squad to Azusa, Calif. for the Bryan Clay Invitational and Houston for the Tom Tellez Invitational.
