SAN ANTONIO, Texas – It was a tough afternoon for the Lamar University women's tennis team dropping a 7-0 decision at UIW Friday in the Alamo City.
In a match that was moved up 24 hours due to the threat of inclement weather (on Saturday)e, the Red and White got off to a tough start. UIW took two of three doubles matches to score the first point of the day with the team of
Lera Zaginayko and
Martina Alcaino posting a 6-4 decision over UIW's McKenzy Byfield and Alexandra Paule Jacqueline Mille, 6-4.
Unfortunately, that would be the lone victory for Lamar as San Antonio's version of the Cardinals picked up straight-set victories at Nos. 6, 3 and 4 singles respectively for the win.
The Cardinals (6-6/0-3 SLC) return to action Monday when they face Texas State in San Marcos. The match against the Bobcats is set for a 10 a.m. start.
