BEAUMONT, Texas – Livia Espirito Santo has announced her intention to continue her education and play tennis for Lamar University announced head coach
David Wong Thursday afternoon.
The top player in Brazil, Espirito Santo is expected to make an immediate difference in the lineup.
"We are very excited to be announcing the addition of Livia," said Wong. "She is an extremely talented player who will come in and compete at a very high level. She is a coachable athlete who I believe has yet to reach her ceiling. She will be able to help our team on both singles and doubles courts. I look forward to not only coaching her in the years to come but watching what she is able to do on the court."
Espirito Santo brings with her a very strong résumé from her native Brazil. A three-time Brazilian singles national champion, Espirito Santo has proven her versatility over the years winning four doubles national titles in her home country.
She has also reached the semifinals of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors circuit (both singles and doubles) as well as the quarterfinals of the women's ITF World Tennis Tournament (in both singles and doubles).
