FRISCO, Texas — After another dominant outing, Chris Olivier has been named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Olivier improved to 2-0 after firing seven hitless innings with 11 strikeouts and two walks to lead Lamar University to a 1-0 win in Game 2 on Saturday against UT Rio Grande Valley.

The right-hander was in complete command from start to finish, retiring 20 of the 23 batters he faced.

UTRGV put just two balls out of the infield, and Olivier induced six groundouts while keeping the Vaqueros off balance throughout the afternoon.

Olivier has now thrown 18.2 consecutive scoreless innings across his first three appearances, piling up 28 strikeouts during that stretch.

He is currently tied for sixth in Division I in strikeouts while he is 22nd in WHIP (0.59).

Within the Southland Conference, Olivier leads the league in both strikeouts and opposing batting average (.097) and is one of only two pitchers with a 0.00 ERA.
