BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will close out the month of February by opening Southland Conference play Saturday with an 11 a.m. match against McNeese followed by a 11 a.m. contest Monday against Southeastern Louisiana. Both matches are set to take place at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
Winners of consecutive matches, and six of the previous eight, the women's tennis team has jumped out of the gates quickly during the 2026 season.
Battle of the Border rival McNeese is out to one of its best starts in school history. The Cowgirls are 10-1 on the year with their lone setback during that stretch being a three-point loss at Tarleton State. While the Cardinals lead the all-time series, 20-15 (.571), McNeese has taken the past four meetings. Lamar is 12-5 (.706) all-time when the two meet in Beaumont.
Southeastern Louisiana is also off to a strong start this season posting a 7-2 (.778) record to open the year, but they have dropped two of the past three. The Lions will open the season Saturday at UIW before traveling to Lamar.
