HOUSTON, Texas - John Sanderson broke his own school record and earned second place in the 60-meter hurdles as Lamar University completed the second and final day of the Robert Platt Invitational hosted by Houston. Kyndall Drones broke her own school record in the women's shot put and took fourth place.

Sanderson first broke the mark in the semifinals of the 60m-hurdles when he crossed the line at 7.91 seconds to claim fourth place in his heat. Then, he shaved five hundredths of a second in the finals (7.86) to finish second behind Anthony Trucks (UH).

Drones launched her shot put throw of 13.91m (45-7.75), which established a new school record and was four feet shy of medaling. She had her previous mark of 13.54m (44-5.25) at McNeese.

Davis Wenthe (600-yard) and Ashton Rainey (3000-meter) both finished second in their respective events. Wenthe clocked in a time of 1:13.68 and came within two seconds of the overall race winner Elijah Hernandez (UH). Rainey finished with a time of 9:48.31 and was behind TCU's Gabby Martin by nearly three seconds.

Cameron Chin earned a pair of bronzes Saturday as he tied his personal best in the men's 200m dash (21.47) while teaming up with Bryson Champagne, Ethan Ellis and Tyler Minter to run 3:19.23 in the men's 4x400 relay. The women's 4x400 relay team of Aaliyah Booker, Krystan Bright, Aryssa Rodriguez and Kayla Smith also finished third at 3:50.82.

The Cardinals will next run in two weeks, when they will send a split squad to the UH Howie Ryan Invitational and Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
