John Sanderson broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles as Lamar University finished its time at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational hosted by New Mexico Saturday.
Cameron Chin also broke the school record in the 400m.

Sanderson first broke the record in the preliminaries by running at 7.96 seconds to qualify him for the finals. Then, he trimmed off a hundredth of a second (7.95), which earned him sixth place.
Chin finished fourth place in the 400m with the mark of 46.31. This broke the previous mark of 46.33 seconds held by TJ Robinson (1993).Â
A day after placing third in the 600m,
Luke Parker claimed his second third place finish in the 800m (1:51.82), where he was one second off of first place.Â

Kyndall Drones,
Tre Richardson and
Alex Williams III all landed in the top 10 of the shot put event. Drones placed seventh with her toss of 13.16m (43-2.25) while Richardson (16.35m/53-7.75) and Williams III (15.89m/52-7.50) were in sixth and eighth place, respectively.Â

Other top 15 finishers included
Kaleb Robinson, who placed ninth in the men's long jump (14.20m/46-7.25),
Ashton Rainey in the women's mile (13th; 5:02.08) and
Hannah Roberts in the 800m (14th; 2:21.60).

Big Red will make its second trip to the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse for Houston's Robert Platt Invitational Friday, Jan. 30th.
