Former Cardinal Signs with NBA Franchise

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – Former Lamar University center David Muoka has signed with the Brooklyn Nets according to NBA.com's transaction log on hoopsrumors.com.

A two-year letterwinner for the Red and White, Muoka played for the Cardinals from 2019 to 2021 before entering the transfer portal. The 2021 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Muoka averaged 6.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game in conference play as a sophomore. He ended that season ranked six nationally, and led the conference overall, with 2.96 blocks per game. That number made him the nation's top sophomore shot blocker.

During his two seasons with Lamar, he played in 57 games making 32 starts.

After wrapping up his collegiate career, Muoka was an undrafted free agent before signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Trail Blazers. He eventually had his G League rights traded from Long Island to Rapid City (Portland's affiliate) before making his way to the Windy City Bulls.

In 48 games for Windy City, Muoka averaged 10.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in 26.5 minutes of action per game. He also shot nearly 67 percent from the field.
