BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University will begin its 2025 athletic season Monday as the soccer team will be hosting Blinn College in an exhibition match at the LU Soccer Complex. The match will kick off at 7 p.m and admission is free to the fans.
The Cardinals return 14 members from the 2024 team, which went 5-8-6 overall and 3-3-4 in Southland Conference play to reach the conference tournament as the seventh seed. Among those returning are sophomore
Cena Carlson, who led the Cardinals in goals (four) and points (11).
Maddie Rich makes her return in goal after posting a 1.02 goals against average with a team-high 43 saves. In addition to the returners, the Cardinals have also brought 14 newcomers to the team.Â
This will be the first of two warm-ups for Big Red. Next Saturday sees the Cardinals head out to LSU to take on the Tigers. The kickoff will start at 6 p.m.
