BEAUMONT, Texas - Head coach
Amy Hooks is continuing to make additions for Lamar University in preparation for the 2026 season. The Cardinals are adding freshman outfielder Kamaryn Radford, a speedster on the basepaths, and Molly Powell, a two-sport athlete looking to help bolster the infield depth.
Molly Powell, 6-1, UTL (Nome, Texas/Hardin-Jefferson HS)
Already a member of LU's women's basketball team, Powell was a two-sport athlete for the Hawks. Powell earned two all-district and two academic all-district honors in her time with Hardin-Jefferson on the softball field. She redshirted last season at McNeese before joining the Cardinals in February. Powell will make her Cardinals' debut on the diamond following the conclusion of basketball season.
"We are thrilled Molly will join us after basketball season," said Coach Hooks. "Molly is very athletic and will help elevate our infield."
Kamaryn Radford, 5-2, OF (Richmond, Texas/George Ranch HS)
In 77 games with the Longhorns, Radford posted a .465 batting average with 107 hits, 15 doubles, six homers and 60 RBIs. Last season, during a seven-game stretch, she batted .565 with 13 hits and drove in seven runs from the leadoff spot. She also stole 42 bases.
"We are very excited to have the opportunity to add Kamaryn to our roster," said Coach Hooks. "She will provide some depth in our outfield and elevate our speed on the bases. She was the last piece to our puzzle for Team 14."
