Lamar Softball Adding Max Lopez to Coaching Staff

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – Max Lopez has been added to the Lamar University softball coaching staff announced head coach Amy Hooks Thursday morning. He will be the third assistant coach along with Tara McKinney and Presley Bell.

"We are so excited to welcome Max Lopez to our staff," said Coach Hooks. "Max is a tremendous addition to our program, and I know he is going to make an immediate impact. He is a great person who will fit in perfectly with our staff and culture. We feel extremely lucky to have him joining Lamar softball. I can't wait to get started and see all that we can accomplish together."

Lopez arrives in Beaumont after spending two seasons as the Director of Player Development at Texas State. While at Texas State, the Bobcats won 63 games, were ranked as high as No. 2 in the D1Softball.com Mid-Major Rankings and reached the NCAA Regionals in 2026.

Before joining the Bobcats, Lopez served as a graduate assistant coach at Texas A&M. He oversaw bullpens during games and caught bullpen sessions in practice while helping with off-the-field duties in both recruiting and player development. Lopez graduated from Texas A&M with a Master of Science in Sport Management in May of 2023. He also worked for the Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation, overseeing premium and suite areas during Aggie home events.

As a former collegiate athlete, Lopez was a member of Temple College's baseball team from 2018-19. While there, the Leopards made an appearance in the 2018 NJCAA World Series and he was named to the 2019 Academic All-Conference team.
