Hobday & Richardson Set Meet Records at Texas A&M's Alumni Muster

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Freddy Richardson and Annabel Hobday earned Lamar University's two first-place finishes and set meet records in the 1,500 meters at the Texas A&M Alumni Muster Saturday. The Cardinals totaled 15 top-10 finishes in total, including four medalists.
 
On the men's circuit, Richardson crossed the line at 3:45.34 to earn his second victory in the event this season. The previous record was held by A&M's Victor Kibiego (3:50.28) from 2024. On the women's side, Hobday posted a winning time of 4:19.70, which bested the previous mark held by A&M's Hannah Campbell (4:30.55) in 2019. Emma Powell placed fifth in the same event as she clocked in at 4:27 flat.
 
Kayli Johnson recorded two top-fives by earning second in the 100m hurdles (13.52) and then placing fourth in the 4x100m at 45.92 along with her teammates Ahmasia Brown, Chantell Bowman, and Kayla Smith.

In the field, Thomas Knoop took second place in the men's javelin after throwing for a mark of 68.38m (224-4). Elijah Jackson (1.95m; 6-4.75), Cameron Chin (46.73) and Kenson Tate (7.40m; 24-3.5) all placed fifth in the high jump, 400m, and long jump events, respectively.
 
LU will now turn its attention to the SLC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which is set to begin Thursday, May 15th. The championship meet will take place at Holloway Field on the Rice campus.
