Lamar in College Station for Texas A&M’s Alumni Muster

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University is set to have its penultimate meet this weekend before the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. On Saturday, the Cardinals will travel to College Station for the second time this season to compete in the Alumni Muster hosted by Texas A&M.

Last weekend saw Big Red participate at Rice's J. Fred Duckett Invitational, where it earned three firsts and 15 top threes. Kayli Johnson added to her outstanding season by breaking the school's triple jump mark of 12.95 meters (42-5.75), which passed the previous mark held by Crisstin Riley (12.94m; 42-5.5). Following that performance, she finished second in the women's 100H (13.96) and the 4x100m (45.27) along with Chantell Bowman, Ahmasia Brown, and Kayla Smith. Another two-time medalist was Blake Richards, who won the men's 400m (55.23) and placed third in the 110H (15.42). Adrian Hahn Vadstein won the 1,500m with a personal best of 3:57.81.

For this meet, LU is one of 15 teams competing along with host TAMU, Baylor, Houston Christian, UIW, Louisville, McNeese, Missouri, North Texas, Rice, SFA, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Sam Houston, UT Rio Grande Valley, and UTSA.

This meet will start at 9:00 a.m. with the running events, while the field events begin an hour later.
