Veronica Harrison has been named Southland Conference First-Team Designated Player announced conference officials Wednesday afternoon.
Cala Wilson and
Trinity Brandon are also honored on the SLC's All-Defensive team at first and third base, respectively. These are the first career honors for each member.

Harrison (Alvin, Texas) led the Cardinals in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.357), RBIs (37), total bases (91), home runs (seven), and multi-hit games (15). The sophomore was second on the team in hits with 56 and was the 12th player in Lamar history to tally two homers in a game, which she got against Northwestern State (Apr. 11). Harrison even recorded a walk-off RBI single against Louisiana Tech (March 2) and posted the second-longest hitting streak on the team (10 games - Mar. 21-Apr. 5). At the start of the season, she was named the SLC Hitter of the Week following a four-game stretch where she batted .545 (6-for-11) with five RBIs, one double, and two homers.

Wilson (Ruston, La.) was recognized for her play at first base in her freshman campaign. Starting in every game, she batted .295 with 49 hits, 10 doubles, one triple, 33 RBIs, and four homers, which included a grand slam against Houston Christian (Apr. 17). During the season, Wilson posted an 11-game hitting streak (Feb. 25-Mar. 12), which led the Cardinals and had a second-best 12 multi-hit contests. She recorded a fielding percentage of .994 with 15 assists and 350 putouts while being part of 10 double plays.

Across the diamond at third base, Brandon (Las Vegas, Nev.) had a junior season that saw her hit .313 (50 hits) with 12 doubles, four triples and three homers to go along with 30 RBIs. She recorded the third-highest hitting streak (7 - Mar. 12-Mar. 21) and has had 10 multi-hit games, which is fourth on the Cardinals. Defensively, she posted a .958 fielding percentage with 47 putouts, 113 assists and contributed to two double plays.
Lamar finished the regular season with 28 wins, including a 15-12 conference record, which earned them the fifth seed in the upcoming SLC tournament. Big Red will head to Lake Charles, La., to open its conference tournament run against fourth-seeded UIW Thursday. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
