BEAUMONT, Texas – Rob Lee, Jr. (6-2, G, Flint, Mich.) has transferred to Lamar University announced head coach
Alvin Brooks Monday afternoon. Lee makes his way to the Golden Triangle after spending the previous two seasons at Wayne State and he will have two years of eligibility remaining with LU.
"Rob's ability to make his team and teammates better really stood out to us," said Brooks. "He not only has the ability to score the basketball, but he has a unique way of impacting his team. He has won at every level he's ever played – a two-time all-state selection who guided his high school to the state title game and then helped Wayne State improve each year that he was there. Rob is a very unselfish player."
Lee has been a standout both on the court and in the classroom during his time at WSU. Lee was named to the 2025 All-GLIAC squad (first team) after a sophomore campaign that saw him play in 26 games making 25 starts. Lee averaged 16.5 points. 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and nearly a steal per game during his sophomore season. He converted better than 38 percent of his attempts from three-point range and was an 81 percent free throw shooter.
This coming of the heels of a rookie season that saw Lee earn GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors averaging 10.3 points per game. Lee was also named to the GLIAC All-Tournament squad during his freshman season averaging better than 20 points per game during the team's tournament run.
Over the course of his collegiate career, the academic all-conference selection has played in 54 games making 34 starts and in his brief time with Wayne State, he moved to seventh all-time in program history in three-point field-goal percentage, 23
rd in three-point field goals, 26
th in free throw percentage and 35
th in scoring average. He struck for double figures 36 times including nine games of at least 20 points.
Lee's success at the collegiate level came as no surprise following a prep career that saw him earn Division 3 First-Team All-State honors as a junior and senior and be named the 2023 MLive Flint Player of the Year.
Lee becomes the second signee for the Red and White in the last five days joining Eian White (5-10, G, Fort Bend Marshall HS).
