FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University will open the 2025 Southland Conference Championships against No. 8-seed UIW announced league officials Saturday evening. Lamar struggled to open the year but caught fire late winning their final two matches jumping three spots in the standings entering tournament play.
The tournament will kick off Tuesday with three matches from the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex in Thibodaux, La. The Cardinals will take to the court for their opening-round match Tuesday at 10 a.m. If the Cardinals get past UIW, they will face league-regular season champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The rest of the bracket consists of No. 2-seed Stephen F. Austin, No. 3 Northwestern State, No. 4 NJIT, No. 5 UT Rio Grande Valley, No. 6 McNeese, No. 7 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 10 New Orleans and No. 11 Nicholls. The championship match is set for Friday at 5 p.m.
